My PHILOSOPHY

Central to my approach is a philosophy of mindfulness, and the idea that how we construct meaning from experience is a matter of personal, intentional choice. The psychotherapy I practice involves careful listening to the difficulties that manifest in a person’s life, then working to unravel those experiences—my aim is to treat not only symptoms, but underlying causes. Therapy is a powerful catalyst in transforming the narrative of our lives, because healing can only occur when the stories we tell ourselves turn into less painful ones. Change is possible, through re-connection (with our true selves and with others), and happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if we only remember to turn on the light.

my experience

Before transitioning to private practice, my journey began in a clinical outpatient setting, treating those with co-occurring disorders. There, I had the privilege of not only working one-on-one with patients, but of facilitating group therapy as well. I gained a wealth of knowledge and training in evidence-based treatments including, but not limited to, cognitive-behavioral (CBT), dialectical-behavioral (DBT), psychodynamic, trauma-informed, family systems, integrative, and solution-focused brief therapies.

I would be honored to work with anyone who is unafraid to learn and grow, even when it feels terrifying or impossible. Aside from utilizing a flexible, intuitive approach, I also believe that the strongest indicator of successful psychotherapy is the connection between counselor and patient, and my goal is to develop true, meaningful rapport with all of my clients.
